GDB Infra - District of the future
1,200 tons of CO2 saved for "Dünenpark" in List on the island of Sylt
Magdeburg / List, August 26, 2021. GDB Infra GmbH, a joint company of GETEC and DSK-BIG, is planning and implementing the heat supply for the "Dünenpark" quarter in List on Sylt. In the future, more than 300 permanent and approx. 86 vacation units, a daycare center and a swimming pool with multipurpose hall will be supplied with climate-friendly heat by GBD Infra. The groundbreaking ceremony for the island's largest construction project to date was held recently.
On the approximately 18-hectare site of the former naval supply school in List, the "Dünenpark" will be created in the coming years. The focus of the new neighborhood is affordable permanent housing for Sylt residents. The energy concept provides for supply by a biomethane-fueled combined heat and power plant (CHP) with the addition of a peak-load boiler. During operation, around 1,200 tons of CO2 are saved annually compared to a conventional gas boiler solution. To transport the heat to each household, GDB Infra has developed the area with around 2.3 kilometers of distribution pipeline.
The project is the second major district to be implemented by GETEC and DSK-BIG, and the first by the joint company GDB Infra GmbH. The development of "Pioneer Park" in Hanau, with more than 1,600 residential units and more than 30,000 m² of commercial space, was already realized in cooperation with Stadtwerke Hanau.
"We are pleased to be able to develop interesting large-scale projects such as the "Dünenpark" in List on Sylt or the "Pioneer Park" in Hanau together with DSK-BIG. This strategic partnership sets new standards. We are united by the will to develop climate-friendly solutions in affordable housing for our customers. To this end, we can coordinate and plan the energy concept precisely in line with requirements right at the start of the development phase in the neighborhood. This gives GETEC the opportunity to get involved in the planning together with its partner at the very first stage. This ensures maximum efficiency and an exemplary carbon footprint," explains Michael Lowak, Segment CEO Real Estate of the GETEC Group.
"Our objective in supplying the "Dünenpark" was to ensure not only the affordability of rents, but also the affordability of ancillary costs - without compromising on climate friendliness," says Dr. Marc Weinstock, Managing Partner of DSK-BIG. This was taken into account at an early stage in the planning process.
In the coming years, GDB Infra GmbH will plan, implement and operate the energy supply for a total of more than 2,000 residential units.
