GETEC subsidiary Antas renews district heating supply for Rozzano
Piacenza / Rozzano / Magdeburg, 30 September 2021
The GETEC Group's regional platform Italy, with GETEC's wholly owned subsidiary Antas S.p.A., and the city of Rozzano near Milan recently signed a multi-year PPP contract to renew and modernise Rozzano's district heating supply. With this project, Antas and Rozzano have set themselves the goal of sustainably generating and supplying energy to the city of 42,000 inhabitants and significantly reducing energy consumption. Over the years, a mid-double-digit million euro sum will be invested in the modernization of the thermal power plant, district heating networks and the installation of heat pumps and storage systems. The project is thus GETEC's largest district heating supply to date.
For the district heating network, a refurbishment and optimisation of the thermal power plants is planned so that a capacity of over 77 MWth can be provided in a decentralised manner from three locations. In addition to new high-efficiency boilers, the plants also envisage the installation of combined heat and power systems with a total output of around 12 MWel, heat pumps and storage systems. Plans also include upgrades to the heating networks and further expansion with new municipal and private connections. The three plants will not only improve production and distribution efficiency, but also significantly increase the environmental friendliness of the supply, thus enhancing the districts served.
"With this project, we will improve the energy infrastructure of the community of Rozzano in the long term and sustainably. We are driven to support our customers on their way to Net Zero with our innovative and climate-friendly energy solutions in the best possible way. Best possible always means that our solutions are both climate-friendly and economical for our customers. Our regional platform in Italy did a great job here and was able to convince Rozzano of our expertise," explains GETEC Group CEO Thomas Wagner.
"Antas is a company that is always looking to take on new challenges. To make a difference in the market, you have to have a clear strategy, make quick decisions and invest in energy infrastructures that accompany our customers on the path to climate-friendly energy solutions. With the Rozzano PPP, we have set ourselves an ambitious challenge. In three years, more than EUR 50 million of investments will have to be made while implementing demanding savings targets," explains Giovanni Pontrelli, CEO of GETEC Group's Italy platform and Antas S.p.A.
