World Children's Day /CO2 reduction targets GETEC
Magdeburg, 17 September 2021. On the occasion of World Children's Day on September 20, GETEC Group underlined its clear commitment to climate neutrality. By 2045, the company aims to achieve Net Zero not only at its own sites, but also in its portfolio for its customers. "Today's children are shaping tomorrow's world. It is the task of everyone, and especially of a market leader like GETEC, to leave a world worth living in for the next generation. As an energy service provider, we have a huge opportunity to support our customers in their quest for Net Zero. Today, we are already saving 551,000 tons of CO2 per year in our portfolio for our customers compared to a standard energy solution. By 2030 this will already be 3,158,000 tons of CO2. We take the energy transition seriously and want to make a difference for future generations," explains GETEC Group CEO Thomas Wagner.
With a wide range of innovative and green solutions for industry and the real estate sector, GETEC aims to reduce the ratio of CO2 emissions to kilowatt hours of energy generated by around 60 percent by 2030 across its entire customer portfolio (so-called Scope 1 and 2). With over 11,500 decentralized plants, GETEC already has a share of renewable heat of over 29 percent, almost twice the German average of only 15 percent. The share of renewable generation is to be increased to 63 percent for our customers by 2030, and the share of non-coal energy will then be a full 100 percent.
